Is it necessary or even possible to have apostles in the churches today? Is it permissible to question the claim of a man who calls himself an apostle, whether his claim is based on a dream or the decision of a church? Would it be irreligious to contest or doubt it? This issue examines what the Bible teaches on the role and the qualifications of the apostles.
The first part attempts to answer the following questions: “Is the Bible from God? Is this book trustworthy? Do we have the true text or do we possess useless books?” The second part follows the history of the Church after time of the apostles, in other words the apostasy, reformation and restoration.
This issue of Chemin de Vérité draws attention to the seriousness of false doctrine, the things that could prevent us from recognizing it, and the teaching of the Bible concerning how we ought to react to those who fall into doctrinal error or who contribute to its spread.
